Historical Context
There isn’t a event or a when child maltreatment really actually happen. It was just different cases and the different occurrence this was happening and the different cases and reports were raising quick and in different nations it was really serve and repetition kept occurring so they made this into a huge deal. The cases start gathering around the early times such as 1900's as people were getting more trouble and different studies that were coming out about it as the different causes/effects there was on infants and the how different the children can be.
Different events capture the eyes of the Americans as like in the 1870’s with the "Mary Ellen Wilson case that she will get daily whippings from her foster home” and the people from the foster home got charge and it went to court, After that hearing people started to call it child abuse because of the different emotional scars that left on Wilson, but as time pass by the court made it a law that child abuse will not be tolerated. Then as time past researches have connected the dots and studies towards the different cases as what child go through and in the end what is the long term effects of each thing that happens to the infants as child abuse. As time past different researchers have put in the terms together and came up with the different aware about there is on each child if the maltreatment happen as sexual, phyical, and emotional. |
